Artist Concept 19990- TACAMO Wing - Naval Air Facility Tinker

With the decision in Congress to move the newly-equipped E-6 Mercury TACAMO community from NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii  (VQ-3), NAS Patuxent River, Maryland (VQ-4), Waco, Texas (Naval Training Support Unit), and Huntsville, Alabama (Naval Aviation Maintenance Training Group Detachment), a senior command was needed. Strategic Communications Wing ONE would command the squadrons and be the Naval Air Facility host for the maintenance training, communications, and personnel support detachment.
